NOBV at European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2026 in Vienna

In early may 2026 the European Geosciences Union General Assembly took place in Vienna, with a strong presence from #NOBV. Across 7 presentations and 3 posters, spread over 5 sessions, including one convened by Duygu Tolunay and Joost Keuskamp, we reached a broad international audience with our research on greenhousegasses and subsidence in Dutch peatlands.

Our work sparked many engaging questions and discussions, often leading to valuable new insights on both sides.

It was inspiring to see the breadth of peat-related research presented: ranging from greenhouse gas emissions and soil mechanics to ecosystem dynamics and many other fields of research. Together, these efforts are advancing our understanding of peatland systems and helping identify effective ways to mitigate GHG emissions from (Dutch) peatlands.
